Before the earth was created what was there? Nothing. Literal nothing, at least in our realm. God is a being that is above space and time. He is the one thing that always has been. He created what we consider outer space. He made the heavens, yes, I said heaven(s). There is more than one level of heaven. He made the splendor of the planets, and of course the beautiful orb we humans currently reside on.
As he made earth, he set invisible rules. some call this physics; he calls it the firmament. There are boundaries for the ocean and every body of water that exists. There is a boundary for the sky that divides it from the land. God is the one who set these boundaries during creation.
In the book of Job in the bible, God asks Job a few questions during his tribulation test by satan. Full Bible scripture as follows: Job 38: 1-8
38 Then the Lord answered Job from the whirlwind:
2 “Who is this that questions my wisdom
with such ignorant words?
3 Brace yourself like a man,
because I have some questions for you,
and you must answer them.
4 “Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth?
Tell me, if you know so much.
5 Who determined its dimensions
and stretched out the surveying line?
6 What supports its foundations,
and who laid its cornerstone
7 as the morning stars sang together
and all the angels shouted for joy?
8 “Who kept the sea inside its boundaries
as it burst from the womb,
9 and as I clothed it with clouds
and wrapped it in thick darkness?
10 For I locked it behind barred gates,
limiting its shores.
11 I said, ‘This far and no farther will you come.
Here your proud waves must stop!’
12 “Have you ever commanded the morning to appear
and caused the dawn to rise in the east?
13 Have you made daylight spread to the ends of the earth,
to bring an end to the night’s wickedness?
14 As the light approaches,
the earth takes shape like clay pressed beneath a seal;
it is robed in brilliant colors.
15 The light disturbs the wicked
and stops the arm that is raised in violence.
16 “Have you explored the springs from which the seas come?
Have you explored their depths?
17 Do you know where the gates of death are located?
Have you seen the gates of utter gloom?
18 Do you realize the extent of the earth?
Tell me about it if you know!
Now speaking for myself, if God said that to me, I don't know what I would say or even do for that matter. He is almighty! He is a masculine spirit who is omniscient. The definition of this word literally means All-knowing. He knows the past, present, and the future. He knows every possible outcome based on our free-will choices and life decisions. He is the only being with total knowledge. Wisdom is a spirit as well. she is at his right hand by him on his throne. If we pray to God for wisdom, He grants it to us.
He created heaven and the Angels as well. When he said "Let us make man in our image," he as communicating with his angels. He wants a connection with us so much that he entrusts those who love him with a portion of his spirit. I am referring to Holy Spirit. this is also another being. He is all spirit but is part of God. He speaks to those whos faith is in him. He searches our hearts individually and gives us spiritual gifts as he sees fit. If we live without the Holy Spirit, we are only in the flesh.
Our flesh is made up of our bodies and our souls. The soul is what gives us personality. These two things make up the flesh we speak of. God planned all of this out and designed it so intricately and incredible. He not only created our souls, but our bodies, how they work, and how we are able to create life. He thinks about everything we will need in this earthly body and provides everything we need to sustain life. He knew this from the beginning. When people try and lean toward the big bang and say that it just happened, this makes less sense than having a creator. Based on the exactness of the things I described above, how can all this be coincidence? It's too perfect. There is an intelligent creator no doubt about it. So to sum it all up, God is the only all-knowing, spiritual being who is every where all the time. He is above space and time. He created all things that exist. the best part, He wants to share a portion of his spirit with us and loves us more than we know!
